ABOUT US
Lauren’s Professional Background
I earned a Master’s in Elementary Education (M.ED.) and have dedicated over 25 years to helping children excel in math. In 2005, I studied in Bergamo, Italy, where I became internationally certified to teach Montessori education. My journey took me through classrooms in Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands, where I observed and refined my teaching approach.
I owned and directed a private Montessori school in Florida, where I offered VPK and Step Up scholarships to students. In 2020, I recertified and became a VPK Director for my school.
For 25 years, I taught using hands-on and theory-based approaches to learning math. I developed The Ultimate Math Achievement Plan, which has been effective in helping children reach their academic goals. First, I assess the children with a complete math diagnostic exam to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Over the years, I have helped hundreds of children reach their academic goals. Each child is given an IEP (Individual Education Plan) here at Elite Math Tutoring. Every child receives a personalized plan specific to their academic needs.
The children gain conceptual knowledge by using a series of Montessori materials to help solidify their learning. In addition to the hands-on approach, the children meet, either online or in person, for engaging lessons and to play math games.
I am Lauren Newman, a lifelong educator. Over my 25-year teaching career as an AMI Montessori Teacher, I adapted to the children around me. I taught in several schools in Nevada and Florida and even owned my own private school, Casa Montessori of Lady Lake, for a time.
Now, I am working with small groups of 9-12-year-olds in Math. I started Elite Math Tutoring to help students who were falling behind and needed a different approach. I use specific Montessori math materials to help students understand concepts. The aim is for a deep understanding of the processes involved, rather than just memorizing formulas.
My goal is to inspire students to think critically and problem-solve, equipping them with the skills they’ll need for lifelong learning.
With 25 years of dedicated teaching experience and a foundation of faith-based principles, Elite Tutoring stands by the belief that children learn best in small, supportive group settings—whether online or in person. I offer small class sizes, with a 1:5 teacher-to-student ratio, ensuring that each student feels heard, encouraged, and confident in expressing their own thought processes.
At the start of each course, I conduct a thorough diagnostic assessment to identify each child’s areas for growth. This targeted approach allows me to prioritize their most pressing needs, so they can build confidence and move forward with grade-level content worry-free.
To help each student master the basics and carry that mastery with pride, empowering them to excel academically and think critically.

- I am passionate about teaching and work exclusively with small groups of 6-12-year-olds, both online and in person. My lessons are designed to pinpoint learning gaps and tackle them head-on with engaging, hands-on activities.
Through Elite Math Tutoring, I provide a Montessori-based approach that helps students deeply understand math concepts. My goal is to inspire critical thinking, problem-solving, and a lifelong love of learning.
How I Can Help
- What happens to those children who haven't mastered this? I create a competitive environment for the children to push each other towards mastery. The children do “flash card races” until they have mastered their multiplication and division facts.
- Is test anxiety, or just MATH ANXIETY, preventing your 6-12 year old from getting passing scores in Math? Test anxiety is real for many children. At Elite Math Tutoring, I address the deeper issues.Anxiety has deep roots. We talk about their math hangups and anxieties. I will transform your 6-12 year old’s anxiety into confidence.
- 6-12 year old don’t do it alone. Learning is so much more effective with friends! I teach the vocabulary and make it relevant to real life.
- Is Place Value confusing to your 6-12 yr old? just doesn't understand place value? This is the foundation for long multiplication & division. Without clear understanding of the process within our decimal system, students get lost in the steps. Too often, they get incorrect answers after a ton of work. This is very frustrating! At Elite Math Tutoring, we can help your 6-12 year old understand long division and long multiplication so they will not forget it.
- Is your child struggling to grasp fractions, decimals and percentages? At Elite Tutoring, the children overcome these obstacles together. These are taught together so that the children see their relevance and importance in everyday math. They also struggle with comparing fractions to decimals and percents. Worse yet, is when they have to do word problems with these things. If your child can’t grasp these basics, how can they be expected to do more advanced math conversions?
